The WoW Forever beta opens September 17, 2026 and runs through October 21 — a 34-day window before the full launch on November 4. Whether you get in depends entirely on which route you take, and the most common mistake so far has been buying the wrong pack. The two routes into the beta
Route 1: guaranteed access via pre-purchase. Blizzard's support article is unambiguous: beta access is tied to specific upgrades — the Skyborne Epic Pack ($59.99) and the Warcraft Forever Collection ($79.99) (plus the physical Collector's Edition, whose beta code arrives by email from the Gear Store). Buy on the Battle.net account you actually play on, and the account is flagged automatically — no key to redeem. The beta client appears in the Battle.net app once testing opens; if it does not, restart the app and verify your order status is Complete in transaction history.
Route 2: the free opt-in. You can sign up on the official World of Warcraft website without paying anything. Signing up does not guarantee an invitation — Blizzard invites opted-in accounts in waves while testing is active. It costs nothing and takes a minute, so do it regardless; just do not mistake a sign-up confirmation for an invitation.
The trap: the Heroic Pack does not include beta
The Skyborne Heroic Pack ($29.99) contains the Skyborne race, name reservation and cosmetics — but no beta entitlement. If beta is your only reason to open your wallet, the floor is the Epic Pack at $59.99, not the Heroic Pack. This single confusion has generated the most frustrated threads since the BlizzCon announcement.
One more pricing note: the base game needs no purchase at all. Forever is included with an active subscription or game time from November 4 — every pack is an optional upgrade, not the price of entry.

What is worth testing first
Blizzard has not promised all launch content from day one; availability is expected to be staged. The systems that most need real player data are the ones Classic players care about: new talents and race/class combinations at the level-60 cap, the new zones and 1,000+ quests, the nine dungeons and the 10- and 20-player raids, and — importantly for older hardware — performance of the new SD and HD presentation options. Expect maintenance, resets and rapid tuning; beta characters and progress should be assumed gone at launch unless Blizzard says otherwise.
