Change the Fonts in World of Warcraft 3.3.5a
The 3.3.5a client can load replacement fonts from a Fonts directory in the game root. This is a client-side presentation change: it does not alter your account or the realm itself.
Before you begin
Close the game completely and make a backup of the client folder, or at least of any existing Fonts directory. Use fonts that you are licensed to use and check that they contain the glyphs required by your language.
Your directory should sit beside Wow.exe, not inside the Interface directory:
World of Warcraft/
├── Fonts/
├── Interface/
└── Wow.exe
Create the four common font files
Choose a TrueType font and make four copies in the new Fonts directory. Rename them exactly as follows:
ARIALN.TTF
FRIZQT__.TTF
MORPHEUS.TTF
skurri.ttf
The 3.3.5 interface definitions reference these names for different parts of the UI. ARIALN.TTF is widely used for compact text and numbers, FRIZQT__.TTF for general UI text, MORPHEUS.TTF for decorative quest and mail text, and skurri.ttf for large combat-style numbers.
You may use one font for all four slots, but a readable sans-serif face usually works better for chat and small UI text than a decorative display face.
Launch and verify
Start the client again and inspect chat, tooltips, quest text and combat numbers. If only some text changed, first confirm the filename, spelling and extension. Some systems hide file extensions, which can accidentally create names such as ARIALN.TTF.ttf.
If letters appear as squares or are missing, the chosen font does not include those glyphs. Replace it with a font that supports your client language.
Restore the defaults
Close the client and rename or remove the custom Fonts directory. The game will fall back to its packaged fonts on the next launch.
