Forever's October Push: A Scandinavian Campervan, a PAX Aus Dungeon Reveal, and a Chinese Beta at ¥388
Between September 30 and October 1, Blizzard published three unrelated-looking Forever announcements that add up to a single marketing ramp. One is a road trip, one is a stage presentation, and one attaches a price to beta access for the first time in the project's life.

The Forever Journey: three Saturdays, three cities
Blizzard is sending a "World of Warcraft–themed campervan" across Norway, Denmark and Sweden, with three in-person community stops. The EU forum post frames it as "Join us round the campfire to play the beta with the community at an intimate gathering":
| City | Date | Time | Venue |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oslo, Norway | Saturday, October 3 | 14:00–20:00 | House of Nerds, Vulkan 18 |
| Copenhagen, Denmark | Saturday, October 10 | 14:00–20:00 | Urban13, Bispeengen 20, Frederiksberg |
| Stockholm, Sweden | Saturday, October 17 | 17:00–22:00 | Trädgården / Under Bron, Hammarby Slussväg 2 |
The pitch is hands-on beta stations, Nordic creators joining along the route, prize giveaways, and cosplay welcome. Blizzard is also filming a miniseries across the trip, with episodes rolling out through October — which makes this the first Forever marketing beat designed to keep producing content after the events themselves are over.
Note the third date. Stockholm is October 17, the same day as the qualifiers for The Forever Open, the community-run $100,000 dueling tournament on the Forever beta. Blizzard's road trip and a third-party esport event land on the same Saturday, on different continents.
PAX Aus: the first real dungeon deep dive
On October 9, Holly Longdale opens the PAX Aus Storytime keynote and is then joined by associate production director Clay Stone for an in-depth look at one of Forever's new dungeons. Blizzard's own framing promises design philosophy, creative process and "decisions that went into building new content for original Azeroth" — not a trailer.
| Region | Local time |
|---|---|
| Australia (AEDT) | October 9, 12:00–13:30 |
| UK (BST) | October 9, 02:00–03:30 |
| Central Europe (CEST) | October 9, ~03:00–04:30 |
| US Pacific (PDT) | October 8, 18:00–19:30 |
PAX Aus runs October 9–11, with Forever playable on the show floor throughout. Blizzard has not said which of the nine new dungeons is being shown. The obvious candidate for a deep dive is the largest: Blackmaw Hold, described as a Great Furbolg City in the 55–60 band. Josh "Aggrend" Greenfield has already hinted at "a Blackrock Depths-style mega dungeon" with the line "Hold our beer(s)," and has not confirmed any connection between the two.
This matters more than a normal panel. Forever's new dungeons are not remastered Vanilla instances — they are new content designed to feel like 2004. That is the hardest thing in the project to judge from a screenshot, and a stage presentation with the designers talking through their reasoning is the closest anyone outside Irvine will get to the intent.
China: beta access with a price tag
The most commercially interesting announcement is the Chinese one. Pre-loading for the Chinese beta of 《魔兽世界:无限》 opened on October 1; the test runs October 6 to October 27 (early morning), it is a wipe, and only players who bought the Epic bundle or won access through an official event can log in. China's launch follows the global one: Blizzard's Chinese announcement says November 5, which is the same moment as the global November 4 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific.
Two bundles are on sale, and the split is unusually blunt:
| Bundle | Price | Contains |
|---|---|---|
| Skyborne Hero | ¥218 | The Skyborne race, the Zephras Isle opening storyline, mount, transmog set, toy |
| Skyborne Epic | ¥388 | Everything above, plus beta access, 30 days of game time, extra mounts/transmog/pet, name reservation, and three friend passes instead of one |
The English-language equivalents — the Skyborne Epic Pack and the Warcraft Forever Collection — are the same access gate the global beta used from September 17. What is new is the explicit local pricing, and the community's arithmetic around it. A widely shared Chinese breakdown notes that the epic bundle's 30 days of game time (roughly ¥75) only activate at launch, so subtracting the ¥170 bundle difference leaves about ¥95 for a three-week beta ticket that will be deleted, plus the extra cosmetics. Whether that is bad value depends entirely on whether you care about securing a character name: the same analysis argues name reservation, not beta access, is the real purchase.
Chinese coverage also lists the name reservation window as November 3–4, while the global pre-purchase details published earlier put the global window at October 27–November 3. RealmList has not seen a Blizzard post reconciling the two, so treat the Chinese date as what that region's announcement says rather than as a global rule.
Why these belong together
Forever launches on November 4. October is the last full month before launch, and Blizzard is filling it with three different kinds of pressure at once:
- Physical presence for the Western audience that can attend — Scandinavia, then PAX Aus, plus Escape Together in Toronto on October 8–11 from the earlier announcement.
- Design credibility for the audience that cannot — the dungeon deep dive, the class deep dives, the podcast series.
- Paid conversion for the region with the most separate commercial structure — China, where beta access is sold rather than drawn.
The unstated risk is that the beta ends October 21, three days after the Stockholm stop and twelve days before the China beta closes. Chinese testers will be playing a build that Blizzard has already said will be through final preparation by then, on a wiped character, six days before launch. That is a compressed window for the region's first look at a product that has never been sold there under this name.
What to watch in the next two weeks
- October 3 — Oslo. First in-person Forever event; expect the miniseries' opening episode shortly after.
- October 6 — the Chinese beta opens, and the week-of-October-6 Midnight 12.1.5 catch-up quests go live in retail.
- October 9 — the PAX Aus keynote and the dungeon reveal.
- October 10 and 17 — Copenhagen and Stockholm.
- October 17–18 — The Forever Open qualifiers and finals.
- October 21 — the beta's last full day.
