Midnight Patch 12.1.5 Arrives October 13: The Labyrinth, a One-Boss Raid, and a Three-Reset Catch-Up
Midnight's 12.1.5 content update lands October 13, 2026 with weekly maintenance, Blizzard confirmed on September 29. European realms are listed for October 14 with their own reset, and Chinese-language coverage of the announcement puts the local rollout a day after that.
The date closes a short guessing game. On the morning of September 29, Blizzard Watch was still predicting October 6 and noting that the franchise's usual eight-week patch cadence looked like it needed an extra week — a reasonable read, given that the cycle covered BlizzCon 2026 and the launch of the Forever beta. It did need one.

What ships on October 13
| Feature | What it is |
|---|---|
| The Unbinding of Kith'ix | A single-boss raid with Story, Normal, Heroic and Mythic difficulties. Lady Liadrin fights beside you; Mythic runs at a flexible 15–25 players. Kith'ix is the C'Thraxxi general bound beneath the Venomous Abyss, and Ula'tek's defeat is what loosened the restraints. |
| Labyrinth of Kindo'jan | Blizzard's first "Labyrinth" — a nine-chamber, Delve-shaped gauntlet with Valeera Sanguinar as companion, a Tier 11 solo challenge, Mythic-track gear, cosmetics and titles. It can be cleared in one run or one wing at a time. |
| Season 2 mid-season refresh | Keystone Myth returns; the Midnight Keystone Myth: Season 2 achievement asks for a 3,600 Mythic+ rating. Several dungeons receive tuning changes. |
| The Promise of Tomorrow | A new story campaign chapter returning to Quel'Thalas and Zul'Aman. |
| Aqir Invasions | Zone-wide public events in Eversong Woods or Zul'Aman, ten minutes each hour, drawn from six scenario types with one of eight affixes each time. |
| Ascendant Venomstones | The season's second power currency — but not on patch day. See the schedule below. |
| Systems pass | Warbind-wide reputations for Legion and Battle for Azeroth, plus Housing, Prey and UI updates. |
This is the same feature list Blizzard previewed on September 9, so the announcement's new information is the date and, more importantly, the sequence that follows it.
The catch-up is three resets, not one patch day
Blizzard did not simply open the mid-season systems on October 13. It built a quest chain that hands out one piece per weekly reset, and the pieces are gated behind each other.
| Reset week | What unlocks | What you have to do |
|---|---|---|
| Week of October 6 (before the patch) | One extra Nebulous Voidcore per week | Accept "In the Catalyst's Shadow" from Decimus in Voidstorm, then "Prismatic Potential" from Orin Straylight in Silvermoon City. A progress timer appears over Orin while he researches. When it finishes, he offers "Umbral Blessings of the Catalyst", which lets you trade gold, Voidlight Marl or Veteran Mistcrests for one additional Voidcore a week. |
| Week of October 13 (patch week) | The patch itself, and the next research step | Orin offers "Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom". Completing it starts his research into Ascendant Venomstones. |
| Week of October 20 | Ascendant Venomstones and the lifted crest cap | Orin offers "Ascending with Venomstones". Venomstones then drop from every Heroic and Mythic raid boss, Mythic+ keys at +10 and above, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare Prey Hunt Champion chests. Ten of them, used near the Catalyst in Silvermoon, raise the item level of one fully upgraded Season 2 Hero or Myth weapon, trinket or necklace — or a maximum-quality Tidal Crafted equivalent. |
If you are behind on the season, the week of October 20 is the one to plan around: uncapped crests and Venomstones land together.
Note the asymmetry with the two headline features. The raid and the Labyrinth are available the moment the patch is live; the power system that makes your existing gear better is a week later, and the extra bonus roll starts a week before the patch. Our earlier walkthrough of how Venomstones were expected to work is here; the unlock route above is the part Blizzard has now made concrete.
The one-boss raid, and why it is one boss
Kith'ix is not a two-tier raid that got cut down. Blizzard's framing is that it closes the Quel'Thalas and Zul'Aman story Ula'tek opened, which is why it is a focused single encounter with a full difficulty ladder rather than a wing of eight. It was tested on the 12.1.5 PTR earlier in September — we covered the encounter structure and datamined item-level curve at the time, in Kith'ix raid testing and what the loot curve implies.
The Labyrinth is the more unusual addition. It is Blizzard's attempt to scale Delve design up to raid-adjacent rewards: nine chambers, a Tier 11 solo path, and Mythic-track gear at the end. If it holds, it is the most generous piece of solo-viable progression the game has shipped.
The same day, the PTR notes were mostly bug fixes
Blizzard also posted the weekly 12.1.5 PTR development notes on September 29, and the shape of them is worth noticing: very little raw power, a lot of correctness.
| Area | Change |
|---|---|
| Evoker — Scalecommander | Melt Armor damage +100% |
| Evoker — Augmentation | Temporality and Temporal Burst durations now scale with Mastery: Timewalker |
| Evoker — Preservation | Consume Flame no longer double-dips from healing increases on the target |
| Hunter — Marksmanship | Explosive Shot no longer auto-selects and fires at a nearby target when pressed with no target selected |
| Mage — Frost | Fixed a Shatter interaction where two Ice Lances in the air caused neither to benefit from Fingers of Frost; the same bug affected Thermal Void |
| Warrior — Protection, Colossus | Practiced Strikes additionally reduces Execute and Revenge rage cost by 10 |
| PvP — Evoker Preservation | Merithra's Blessing is now an Arcane spell and can be cast while locked out of Nature |
| UI | Trading Post preview settings, such as Combat Animation, are remembered when swapping between items |
That is closer to a stabilisation pass than a balance patch — consistent with a content update whose headline features are a solo gauntlet and a currency ladder rather than a class overhaul.
What is still not dated

- Midnight Season 3. A dungeon pool preview exists; no start date.
