Whitemane Is Now a Six-Realm Network: MoP in Beta, TBC Coming Soon, and Frostmourne Still Growing

Whitemane's site now lists six realms in three states — three online, Mists of Pandaria's Stormstout in beta, and a TBC realm called Sunwell coming soon with no date. Thirty days before WoW: Forever launches, the network behind Frostmourne is expanding in two directions at once.

Whitemane's front page now reads like a small network map: six realms in three states. Frostmourne (Wrath Rebuffed), Gilneas (Cataclysm Classic) and Maelstrom (Cataclysm) are online. Stormstout, the network's Mists of Pandaria realm, is marked Beta Online. And Sunwell, its Burning Crusade realm, is marked Coming Soon — with no date, no beta announcement in its news feed, and no store page. At the moment we checked on October 6, the site counter read 5,154 players online across the whole network.

What is actually confirmed

Everything below the front page gets thinner fast, and it is worth separating the three tiers of certainty:

RealmExpansionStatusWhat backs it
FrostmourneWotLK Rebuffed (3.3.5a+)OnlineLive since September 19; own news posts; Tier 7 Normal opened September 30, Heroic follows October 7 per the pre-launch roadmap
GilneasCataclysm ClassicOnlineLive network realm

StormstoutMists of PandariaBeta OnlineFront-page status only; no news post, no date, no sign-up details
SunwellThe Burning CrusadeComing SoonFront-page status only; no date anywhere on the official site

Stormstout is a playable beta rather than a press release — but the only first-party fact is the status string. A third-party hub describes it as a fresh blizzlike MoP realm carrying quality-of-life features over from the network's other realms, and that description is theirs, not Whitemane's. Notably, the official news feed has not mentioned either new realm: the most recent post is still the September 27 Personal Loot explainer.

Sunwell: the TBC realm, as described so far

The clearest public picture of Sunwell comes from Private Server Hub's October 4 listing, which is a third-party description and should be read as such: the realm will run only on the TBC Classic 2.5.2 client through Whitemane's launcher with Classic addon support, all rates at x1 except experience (x3 through a permanent Joyous Journeys-style buff from 1 to 70), and a feature set that includes Karazhan, Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep attunements, Revered heroic keys, Tier 4/5 raids and PvP Season 1 opening at least two weeks after launch, full cross-faction raids, dungeons, guilds and chat, dual spec, transmogrification, Racial Shift, a short trading window for BoP loot, cooldown resets after every boss kill, and twice-weekly arena flushes. The hub also notes the store offers for Sunwell are not yet published. None of this has appeared on Whitemane's own site; if the hub's description is accurate, it is the most detailed TBC feature list any large network has put out this year — attached to a realm with no date.

The numbers behind the expansion

Frostmourne's launch remains the headline stat: Whitemane's own news reported over 8,500 players online at the September 19 opening, which made it one of the largest single-realm launches of the year. By October 1, the network's statistics page (as reported by Private Server Hub) counted 121,160 characters, 54% Horde, with Paladin the most-played class and Blood Elf the most popular race. The Frostmourne roadmap also carries two original raids with no dates — Ruins of Karazhan with a risen Antonidas in patch 3.1.5, and Fall of the Sunwell in Caverns of Time in patch 3.2.5 — our launch coverage and Tier 7 parsing guide cover that realm's systems in depth.

Why this matters thirty days before Forever

Whitemane is expanding in two directions at once — backward into TBC and sideways into MoP — while Blizzard's Classic+ launch approaches on November 4, with the beta's China edition opening today and name reservation three weeks out. A network running two Cataclysm variants, a rebuilt Wrath realm, a MoP beta and a TBC project simultaneously is operating at a scale where any one realm's problems are cushioned by the others, and where a wave of Forever-bound churn can be absorbed rather than fatal. That is the same durability logic we laid out in our sustainability signals guide.

It cuts both ways for a player choosing a realm. Depth of operation is evidence of competence and evidence of divided attention, and no front page tells you which one you are getting. The practical takeaway: Stormstout's beta is real but undocumented, Sunwell is real but undated, and anyone planning around either should wait for Whitemane to put an actual announcement in its own news feed — the same discipline we apply to any "coming soon" without a date in our directory-reading guide.

::note Realm statuses, the 5,154 online counter and the 8,500 launch figure are Whitemane's own statements, read from its site on October 6, 2026; the 121,160-character figure is Whitemane's own statistic as relayed by Private Server Hub on October 1, and character counts are not player counts. The Sunwell feature list is a third-party description from Private Server Hub's October 4 listing — Whitemane's own site has published no details, date or beta announcement for Sunwell, and Stormstout's beta content state is unverified as we did not create an account. Details may be stale by the time you read this. ::
