Frostmourne Survives Its First Weekend: Whitemane Posts an Official Known-Issues List and a Silent Raid Pipeline

Two days after launch, Whitemane published its first formal known-issues list for WotLK: Rebuffed — five things already fixed, nine still open, a Zul'Farrak progress blocker, and an addon compatibility warning. The bigger story underneath: three original raids are already on the roadmap.

The day after Frostmourne's record-setting launch, Whitemane did something smaller but arguably more informative: it published a formal known-issues list — the first for the rebuilt Wrath of the Lich King: Rebuffed realm. Nine items open, five already fixed, no server-crash class problems, and one dungeon-blocking bug. For a project that took a 30-minute DDoS blackout on day one, the list reads like a team that has moved past infrastructure triage and into content polish.

The realm itself has settled into a normal post-launch pattern: from the 8,500+ launch-day peak, the network's own status board showed roughly 5,150 players online on Frostmourne at the time of writing, with Cataclysm Classic's Gilneas around 1,480 — a typical first-Monday decay for a fresh realm rather than a warning sign.

The open list, by category

Addon compatibility is the item with the widest blast radius. Five established 3.3.5a addons — Bartender4, ElvUI, ClassicAPI, CompactRaidFrame and Talented — may misbehave on Rebuffed's modified interfaces. Whitemane's answer is distribution, not diagnosis: corrected versions will ship through the launcher alongside the full Rebuffed addon collection, which means players who install addons manually from old links are the ones who will hit the problems.

Client/rendering items: ground textures can look blurry even at maximum Texture Filtering, because the client's DXVK anisotropic filtering does not follow the in-game option — a Vulkan-stack detail that the 12 GB client's rewrite makes plausible, and which no settings change will fix until patched. Some world maps also originate from a different WoW version and visibly differ from the default Wrath maps.

Gameplay blockers: in Zul'Farrak, after accepting Weegli Blastfuse's "Will you blow up that door now?" dialogue, the final door can remain closed and trap the group's progress — the only listed bug that can hard-stop a dungeon run.

Interface and social: non-English clients can hit an "Incorrect channel name" error in chat; the DBC-backed WorldChat channel and per-locale language channels are being integrated, with all players to be moved from World into WorldChat plus their locale channel; NPC-only appearance items can leak into player-facing Collections; and Shift+P can still open the legacy Pet Book instead of Collections. The Bug Reporter UI is explicitly temporary and will be removed in the next client update.

What is already fixed

The fixed list is a good proxy for how the team is working — five items resolved between launch day and the post:

  • Hardcore combat: normal characters no longer lose access to a creature after a Hardcore character joins its combat — the kind of cross-ruleset interaction only a server running Hardcore alongside normal realms produces.
  • Wailing Caverns: the Naralex event and Disciple now reset correctly after a wipe.
  • Character creation: choosing a starting location now also sets the Hearthstone home location.
  • Shadowfang Keep: the courtyard door stays open once opened for cross-faction groups.
  • Hardcore announcements: Polish Hardcore global announcement text restored.

The quiet bombshell: an original raid pipeline

Buried in the launch-eve "Very Short Guide" — and easy to miss under the launch-day noise — was Whitemane's roadmap of three original raid chapters for the Rebuffed progression, all roadmap statements rather than shipped content:

PhaseRaidPremise
Patch 3.1.5Scourging of KarazhanA darker tower with an Antonidas encounter, Scourge influence reaching into Kirin Tor history
Patch 3.2.5Echoes of the SunwellA Caverns of Time raid centered on Kel'Thuzad's resurrection, tied to the Culling of Stratholme timeline
LaterFall of the SunwellPlayers follow Arthas as undead while the Infinity Dragonflight meddles in the Lich King's creation; final boss Anasterian

Combined with the previously documented systems — Heroic Naxxramas with 80+ documented changes, Domination solo legacy raids, loot assigned by difficulty rather than raid size so 10-player Heroic guilds chase the 25-player table — the roadmap puts Frostmourne in the small category of 3.3.5a projects shipping new raid encounters rather than repackaged ones. Whether the phases arrive on schedule is the real test of the "Rebuffed" label.

The near-term calendar

Tier 7 opens September 30 (Normal) — possibly earlier if community feedback pushes for it — with Heroic on October 7 requiring Normal progression. Every weekend after launch weekend is a free Bonus Weekend. The teased "major new system" from launch day remains unnamed.

Accurate as of September 21, 2026. The known-issues and fixed-items lists are Whitemane's own September 20 post and will change with the next client update; the ~5,150 concurrent figure is a snapshot from the network's public status board at time of writing, not a peak statistic. The three original raids are roadmap announcements, not scheduled releases — no dates exist for any of them. Tier 7's Normal opening "may move earlier on community feedback" per the project, so the September 30 date is provisional.
